After HVAC problems lead to leaks in their master bathroom, a professional couple in the dental industry hired us to upgrade their master suite. We refreshed their layout, furniture, and accessories with natural fibers and materials throughout the bedroom.

A couple that is as physically active, hard-working, and jet-setting as this duo necessitates a haven of maximum comfort. With a sound-absorbing velvet-upholstered headboard (made without toxic flame-retardant chemicals), champagne-colored velvet quilt and sham, and 500 thread count organic pima sateen sheets, “slipping” in to bed has never been more literal. A supersoft rug underfoot is a must with hard flooring in a bedroom, coupled with energy-saving radiant heat under wood-look tile, even getting out of bed can be a touch easier.

We custom-ordered live-edge iphone and Apple Watch charging stations with a built-in valet tray- great for that moment you realize you fell asleep with your watch on. Classic water carafes and task lighting complete the setup for bedtime reading and midnight water breaks. A mohair throw at the foot of the bed, woven at a family-owned mill in Spain, provides a last-minute layer without having to get out of bed.

While we all try not to bring our work into the bedroom, some of our most creative thoughts occur when we are relaxed. Having a dedicated place to doodle, journal, write or, let’s face it, tap out a quick email, is a bonus if you’ve got the space. The industrial elements of the desk relate to the nightstands while remaining a somewhat separate space. A leather and hemp blotter protects both the aluminum-framed laptop and the glass tabletop.

Although the large walk-in closet has plenty of storage for two, not all items need live in a closet. We sourced a wall-mounted dresser featuring linear leather drawer pulls to keep an uncluttered and streamlined look. The artwork features fly ties on handmade paper sourced from a boutique in Narrowsburg, NY.

A remote-operated custom two-sided gas fireplace with concrete tiles functions as a half screen between the bed and the sitting area, perfect for starting a chilly winter morning in cozy peace and quiet.

The wood-look tile with radiant heat is continued through the master closet where an abundance of storage is tucked behind shaker doors. A marble countertop for staging outfits and accessories is made of the same material as the master bath vanity. An accent wall was created with Lindsay Cowles grasscloth wallpaper. A cow hide stool makes strapping on shoes a bit easier.

The bathroom underwent the largest change (scroll down for Before/Afters). The final layout would not have been possible had the shutters with mirrors not been realized. We designed a clever and sophisticated solution executed by our highly skilled tradespeople to integrate the vanity mirror into the window treatments with push latch, hinged bifold shutters.

The custom vanity is topped with a natural marble selected by the client on a stone yard tour. Natural stone large format tiles transition seamlessly into the walk-in shower with door-less glass. A jute runner serves as an over-sized bath rug.

A free-standing soaking tub soothes sore muscles after a long day at work. A hand shower adds versatility and potential for washing pups and kids.
