Thanksgiving is a special time of year for many; we aim to settle in with our friends and loved ones to reflect on all the positive things the year has brought us and enjoy some good conversation and a combination of traditional and rule-bending dishes. Around many tables, the broken rules consist of sinful amounts of cheese or butter, at other tables we might see an unusual high-brow twist to their cooking methods. In other instances, maybe the rules get bent in ways that we indeed do not appreciate… like Aunt Madge’s brisket marinade: Mountain Dew. ::shiver::
Sure, many people feel warm and fuzzy going over to Madge’s, but don’t let that make you feel like you have to enter the gates of food hell on what could be a delectable day. Enter: Highly-regarded restaurants that stay open for business during major holidays. We’ve done some of the legwork for you and have rounded up some restaurants that meet two important mercer INTERIOR qualifications: beautiful interiors and damn good eats.

2. Proof on Main (at 21c Museum Hotel)
$150 Thanksgiving menu Pre Fix, take-out available!
Since they also hold the local produce in high esteem, you will see autumnal vegetables typical of the season on their menu. Even though Thanksgiving dinner at home is usually heavy, we expect TGD at Fish and Game to be anything but, they are known for their lighter dishes.
4. Prune
$100 Thanksgiving Prix Fixe
Aside from substituting Capon for Turkey, you can expect a traditional Thanksgiving at Prune. Of all the restaurants serving TGD in NYC, this one might book up the fastest. Tried and true, the restaurant is snug and they have been serving Thanksgiving every year since opening in 1999.
Seatings between 1pm-6pm Thanksgiving Day
Serving $95 per person Thanksgiving Prix Fixe
Once again local, organic produce gets our attention… and THOSE VIEWS! If the weather is nice enough for some poolside hanging at the hotel, make sure to have a frozen beverage for us… we told you about the place after all.
Seatings between 12pm-8pm Thanksgiving Day
